100 Years of Carmel Woman's Club
A Century of Giving Back (and Having Fun Doing It!)
March is Women's History Month, and what better way to celebrate than by shining a spotlight on one of Carmel-by-the-Sea’s most treasured institutions? Enter the Carmel Woman’s Club (CWC)—a powerhouse of philanthropy, friendship, and fabulous events since 1925!
With a mission rooted in charity, education, and community spirit, the CWC has been making a difference for almost a century. Over the years, they’ve adapted to the changing times—because giving back never goes out of style!
In 2010, the club launched a scholarship program supporting women returning to college to better their lives (and, let’s be honest, take over the world). So far, they’ve awarded over $72,900 in scholarship funds!
But wait—there’s more! The club doesn’t stop at scholarships. Every year, they support local nonprofits, including Meals on Wheels, the Carmel Youth Center, Girls Inc., Pacific Rep Theater, and even Monterey Sober Living for Women. Talk about a group that gets things done!
Newsflash: Men Are Now Welcome!
Yes, you read that right! The Carmel Woman’s Club is now a co-ed affair, welcoming men to join the fun. With over 400 members, the club hosts bi-monthly events from October to May, featuring everything from live music and author talks to chef demonstrations and floral design workshops. It’s part intellectual, part entertainment, and 100% a good time.
Gearing Up for 100 Years of Awesomeness
CWC Leadership, 2025
As the Carmel Woman’s Club approaches its 100th anniversary, it’s clear this group is aging like fine wine. They’ve spent a century lifting up the community, and they’re just getting started. Whether you want to make new friends, support a great cause, or simply enjoy a good lecture (with a side of socializing), the CWC is the place to be.
Carmel Woman's Club has announced a Centennial Celebration scheduled for September 20, 2025, to commemorate 100 years of community engagement and philanthropy. The event, themed "A Century of Legacy & Giving Back," will honor the club's rich history and enduring commitment to the Carmel-by-the-Sea community. Their fundraising goal this year to commemorate this milestone is an apropos, straight $100,000. Carmel Valley Coffee Roasting Co. has already committed to donating the caffeine fix to the festivities.
As the date approaches, the club is expected to release more details about the celebration. For the latest updates, you can follow the Carmel Woman's Club on their social media platform: m.facebook.com
So, let’s raise a mug (or a book, or a paintbrush—whatever suits you) to 100 years of generosity, laughter, and making things happen. Here’s to the next century of impact!
