We promised women-grown coffee and here it is! This 'Las Dueñas' lot grown by Manos de Mujer "Hands of Women" hails from one of Guatemala's most coveted growing regions, Hueheutenango, and is  grown at high elevation in an isolated and rugged corner of the country. There you will find 182 female members of the ASOBAGRI collective implementing strategies to streamline costs and productivity, while delivering an intensely flavorful cup.

These women have cultivated strategies which include using coffee pulp to make organic fertilizers to reduce the transportation costs associated with purchasing fertilizer from afar, and at the same time, creating an abundant source of plant nutrition that ensures better yields and quality. Income diversification investments in chicken farms, avocado trees and a local cafeteria have also strengthened the options for women members.

Single Origin Espresso | French Press | Pour Over | Drip

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use an airtight container if possible or reseal tightly.

Manos de Mujer ("Hands of Women") is a beautiful Fair Trade Organic Community Lot from Huehuetenango, Guatemala:

Treat yourself to this exceptional coffee grown by 182 women in the rugged Huehuetenango region. Both organic and Fair Trade - USA certified, this community lot, grown at 1,400–1,650 masl reflects care, craftsmanship, and community impact in every cup.

Unless you parachute into Santa Cruz Barillas, reaching this remote corner of Huehuetenango means one of coffee’s longest treks. Few have ventured here, yet our distributor was among the first to import Fair Trade coffee from ASOBAGRI — a standout cooperative of 1,400+ members across 80 communities.

The rugged terrain has preserved rich indigenous heritage, while ASOBAGRI bridges local farmers to the world with sophisticated organization, small-farm micro-mills, and a shining commitment to gender equality.

This lot, Las Dueñas, comes from a dedicated program for 182 women members. Supported by five women technicians, it includes tailored training, coffee-pulp organic fertilizer to cut costs and boost quality, plus income diversification through chicken farms, avocado trees, and local cafeterias.
