Par For The Pour, Pro Golfers Paired With Their Coffee Soulmates

Par For The Pour, Pro Golfers Paired With Their Coffee Soulmates

Hey there, coffee aficionados and golf fanatics! Welcome to Carmel Valley Coffee Roasting Company's wild ride through the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where we're throwing our roasts into the mix with the top golfers like they're chips in a high-stakes game. It’s our inaugural Par for the Pour Match Up, pairing our roasts with some of the best golfers in the world. The tournament kicks off January 27th, and with a $20 million purse on the line, we figured, why not match these long drivers with our killer beans? Our talented crew from our three Carmel Valley Coffee spots and our steamy roasting den dreamt up these pairings that are as sharp as a well-hit 9-iron on the 7th at Pebble.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is more than just a chance for these pros to show off; it is a designated PGA Tour Signature Event, so the field is small (80 players) but mighty. In our fantasy world, we picture these golfers battling the winds of Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill while they're secretly dreaming about our organic coffee to lift their game. From Rory McIlroy's reliability to Viktor Hovland's silent assassin vibe, we've matched their playing personality with our organic roasts, hoping to make your viewing or sipping experience as epic as a free round at Pebble without the room nights.

The Pairings

Rory McIlroy with Foglifter® Organic Blend

Why: Rory’s game, like our Foglifter® roast, has become the epitome of reliability. Just as you count on our signature roast to clear away your morning haze, you can count on McIlroy to deliver consistent, clear performance on the course. This pairing celebrates predictable excellence; both are some of our top picks.Max Homa with Eastwood Organic Blend

Why: Max Homa's got that jazzy, cool, chill vibe, but when he's on the course, he gets down. That's why we paired it with the taste of the musical King of Cool, Kyle Eastwood. The Eastwood roast, with its smooth jazz complexity, is the only thing that can keep up with Homa's laid-back yet lethal approach shots.

Hideki Matsuyama with Carmel Valley Organic Blend

Why: Hideki plays his cards close to his chest, much like the mysterious, often overlooked beauty of Carmel Valley. This roast is understated yet powerful, just like Matsuyama's game - it sneaks up on you, then BAM, you're in awe, wondering how the hell he made that putt.

Jordan Spieth with Defogger® Organic Decaf

Why: Pairing Spieth with decaf? Because he’s the conversation king and we don’t need caffeine adding more words to his already epic soliloquies. With a little less caffeine, he will give us the director’s cut of his game, where the quiet moments are just as entertaining as his play-by-play commentary. Here’s to hoping Defogger® Decaf brings out the best of the banter with his ball, keeping the laughs coming without the jitters.

Collin Morikawa with Mexico Organic Single Origin

Why: Morikawa’s game is all precision, like a sniper with a 9-iron. This roast from Mexico is as sustainable as Morikawa's swing - both are about making the most out of what you've got, be it beans or birdies. Plus, they're both kind of environmentally friendly, unless you count the carbon footprint of Morikawa's long drives.

Viktor Hovland with Sumatra Organic Single Origin

Why: Viktor’s game is all about quiet strength and precision, much like the understated yet potent coffee from Sumatra. This roast doesn’t need to shout its presence; it’s known for its depth and complexity, just like Hovland’s steady, unassuming play on the course. Both are masters of their craft, delivering excellence without fanfare.

Keith Mitchell aka “Cashmere Keith" with Artists, Writers, and Poets Organic Blend

Why: Just like “Cashmere Keith” glides through the fairways with the smoothness of, well, cashmere, our Artists, Writers, and Poets blend is the epitome of a smooth poetic brew. Both Mitchell and this roast share finesse – Mitchell with his silky soft swing that seems to write poetry with every stroke, this organic coffee with its mellow, creative notes that inspire like the verses of prose. You can sometimes catch “Cashmere Keith” perusing the vintage Rolex selection at Fourtané on Ocean Avenue, because you need the right timepiece for those sweet threads.

When the final putt's been sunk and the last dollar of that $20 mil's been counted at this beloved Pro-Am, we hope our coffee-golfer mash-up has spiced up your day like a hot shot of our Espresso 1940. Whether you're screaming from the sidelines, glued to your screen, or just trying to wake up with our organic beans, remember, golf and coffee are about the journey - and the buzz. Here at Carmel Valley Coffee Roasting Company, we're all about celebrating the quirks of both, so next time you're sipping on a cup, think of these pros, their epic swings, and how our coffee could be a pairing that is par for the pour. Here's to killer golf rounds and even tastier coffee, may each gulp be as electrifying as a birdie on the 18th.
